cubicle action figures. you heard me.
if I were the type of gal to fill my office with totally silly toys, I'd be proudly displaying this entire set on my windowsill:

the Pudding Story She wanted me to tell y'all.
So, I love my family, but we're all a bunch of freaks.
ok, all of us except my totally amazing sister, but you already know about her, so I'll tell you more about my dad and brother.
Ya see, my brother and I live at home with our parents. and our retired dad tends to do a good deal of the grocery shopping.
Dad never makes a list or anything, just goes to the store every day and buys stuff based on his mood. which means some days we have an interesting nostalgia meal waiting when we get home from work (steak diane with cheesy potatoes! marco-island barbecue chicken with apple salad!) and some days the counters are just loaded with snacks.
but for some reason, he gets stuck on weird food kicks - like when we had ro-tel every day for three weeks last summer, or angel food cake for breakfast for the month of November.
Just the other day, I was telling Blondie on IM about how my dad has been offering me pudding for breakfast every morning.
blondie: "he just offers you pudding? for breakfast?"
me: "well, they're in those individual size snack packs, so it's more like 'did you take some pudding? for when you get to work?'"
blondie: yawns, changes subject
yes, it would have been boring except then she came over the next week for our Desperate Housewives girls-night-in and he offered the both of us pudding.
dad: "you girls want pudding for dessert?"
I looked at Blondie like "see?" and we both just sat there trying not to laugh.
my brother watched this whole exchange go down, and mysteriously disappeared from the kitchen. I figured he'd just had enough of me and Blondie and our wacky girl antics, but....then,
THEN --
we get to my room to turn on the tivo, and there's two puddin-paks on my pillow.

see what I mean? freaks.

what's bugging me this morning:
listening to NPR this morning, and there's a reviewer (I didn't catch his name) talking right now, and he is driving me crazy - the world's WORST lisp and he's ON THE RADIO.
Seriously. I have a lisp but I compensate by NOT being a radio personality.
{still listening, of course, and going nuts} this guy's voice is almost as bad as Carl Castle's weird bubble-in-the-throat thing that drives me so batty I actually take off my headphones while he's on the air.

Getting Up To Speed
Okay, I'm in the new picturepicture.net digs. got an image or two in the right place, imported what I needed to import...
things will still be wonky, but at least I've managed to skirt the issue of deleting the 3100 spam comments that came in over the last few days.
over the next week: new stuff! I promise!

dream journal
last night I dreamt ...that somebody loved me.
(yes, I'm a stuck in the 1980s. sue me)
I also dreamt that I was trapped overnight at my office with a litter of adorable kittens and a scrumptious birthday cake.
I could actually taste the chocolate and buttercream goodness.
I could also feel the pissyness of dreaming about work.
I mean, I work more than I sleep - why can't my dreams be pure awesome with no grey cubicle-flickery fluorescents?

my favorites from the last year....
yes, I'm too busy at work and at home to write, but I did realize, over the holidays, that I wrote (and photographed) a whole bunch of stuff that I really liked over the past year, despite all the rough edges....I bring to you my 2004 favorites:
a short (happy) story, told in pictures:
there's something about a sunrise.
Tying Up Loose Ends: Draft One.
about that date from a few days ago..
in which she probably says something inappropriate.
The Nice Person At The Library Who Just Has to Ruin Everything.
and here, I thought I'd never change...
the clocks, they are a tickin'
finally figuring out what I was trying to say...I think.
every so often, one should post a good quote, don't you think?
