About A Foreign Boy
okay, I can't put my finger on it, but it's just...well...british films aren't really 'foreign' films, are they? I mean, they are in another country, they call 'soccer' 'football' and all that, but when I went to see "about a boy", the only thing I saw that was 'foreign' about the film was that single mothers were able to attend support group meetings at 2pm on friday (no bosses to keep track of their hours, I guess) and that door knobs were up about chest level on all the front doors.
no, the movie wasn't boring, but it wasn't so complex that you couldn't notice these nitpicky little things without missing major plot points. my biggest beef with the movie: when hugh grant's character was giving this little kid a 'cool' makeover, he started with his shoes. I, personally, would have gone for the hair - who the hell wears a bowl cut, these days?
